On 5 and 6 April 2022, Executive Director Ted van Baarda held a series of lectures on behalf of EuroISME, on military ethics in Byblos, Lebanon, a small harbour town north of Beirut.
This came at the invitation of CISH, the International Centre for Human Sciences, which functions under the auspices of UNESCO. Other speakers included Mr. Kristof Duwaerts of the Hans Seidel Foundation and Mr. Frederico Assoreira Almendra of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The lectures were attended by some 70 officers of the Lebanese Armed Forces. The workshop was partly held in English and partly in Arabic, with simultaneous translation.
Ted van Baarda thanked Dr. Darina Saliba Abi Chedid, director of CISH, and Gen. Hassan Jouni, Commdandant of the Lebanese Military Academy for their kind cooperation. Both of them have received a complimentary copy of a volume of EuroISME’s book series. EuroISME is looking forward to consultations with CISH on the potential for future cooperation.
