Conflicts are omnipresent: The lives of people, groups, societies and states are full of conflicts. The diversity and ambiguity of the term “conflict” is not only due to the fact that it is firmly anchored in our everyday life and our language. Rather, conflicts are highly complex and ambivalent phenomena that by no means have to be viewed only negatively. They can also be understood as social and political facts that not only need to be overcome or avoided, but which can also be dealt with productively and constructively.
The way in which conflicts are negotiated in a society is an expression of a specific conflict culture. As an interdisciplinary event, the “Conflict Cultures in Past and Present” conference focuses on this cultural dimension of conflicts.
The event in German language and can be watched digitally as well as attended in person.
